Tips

If you want your Windows XP to remain permanently activated and you want to avoid legal problems with Microsoft, you must turn off automatic Windows updates. You have to carry out the following steps: Go to Start and then Control Panel. (Make sure it’s in Classic View.) Double-click Automatic Updates. Select the Turn off automatic updates option and click Apply. You’ve already done it! One more thing: you might find it annoying that a message pops up every 2 minutes saying automatic updates are disabled. To turn off those annoying warnings, double-click the little red icon on the right-hand side of your taskbar. The Security Center opens and there are a few options on the left-hand side. Go to the Change Security Center alert settings option and uncheck Automatic updates.
